Further possibilities
Here are some strategies that other parents have used to help their children gradually learn to better manage their feelings over time:
● Meltdown diary. Make a note of when tantrums occur to see if there are any patterns that reveal triggers which can then be avoided. The key questions are:
● What caused the tantrum?
● Can you identify specific factors such as being hungry, tired or hot, or feeling overwhelmed by something that happened at school?
● What kind of behaviour did your child display?
● What were the consequences of the behaviour?
